Cellular Membrane Osmosis/Diffusion

For the last week we have been conducting a diffusion lab with eggs. The Naked Egg lab where were were demonstrating how the cellular membrane of an egg is selectively permeable. This week we dropped the eggs outside to check out the inside of the eggs and identify how much diffusion took place in the yolk and egg white. We had a blast, splatting the eggs. Here are a few pictures and a slow-mo video of what we observed and discussed.

A Week of Cell Activities

This week GT students created giant cells using supplies from the makerspace- primarily play-doh. They also completed their magazine articles on cells- magazine is getting assembled this weekend- and drew cartoons of their cell organelle on our graffiti wall. Here are some pictures.

The Classroom Walls Complete 2018-2019

This year I left two main spaces for students to create and assemble. The community board and the culture corner. So many amazing artifacts came in for our culture corner- hoping to get the rest Monday. All the calling cards were completed and the community board is also complete. Here are some pictures of those.

Here is the teacher EDU literature wall to inspire students to read and fellow educators to read amazing books on education.

Finally our classroom is called colliding with science and here is our door- my motto "We are going to collide with science today, buckle up"
